Vacant Buildings 101: A Workshop for Community Leaders & Advocates
Vacant buildings make problems for residents on hundreds of blocks across Baltimore City. Baltimore Heritage and the Community Law Center created this workshop to help Baltimore residents, property owners, and community leaders like you take action to address the issue of vacant buildings on your block and in your historic neighborhood. If you are a homeowner, you may worry about how vacant buildings nearby could increase your insurance costs; decrease the value of your home; and make it more difficult for you to sell your home if you choose to move in the future. If you lead a community organization, you may worry about how vacant properties can contribute to public safety risks or make your community less attractive. These problems do not have easy or simple solutions! You can't solve these problems all on your own as an individual resident. By working with developers, Baltimore City, local nonprofits, and your neighbors, you can work to solve the problems caused by vacant buildings in your neighborhood. We designed this workshop to empower you to achieve this goal. This workshop is supported by a Heritage Fund grant from Preservation Maryland. Registration is limited to 25 people to make sure we have time for questions and discussion. Coffee will be provided. If you register but are later unable to attend, please let us know!
